The Point of Production: Work Environment in Advanced Industrial Societies by John Wooding, How do science and politics interact in the definition of work-related injury and disease? How is worker safety affected by the overall power relations within society? The world today faces bewildering new choices about technology use, the organization of work, and methods of production. Far from taking place in a vacuum, these choices have life-and-death implications for working people and communities. This book integrates theory, data, and case examples to analyze workplace health and safety battles and the roles of such key players as labor, public health professionals, management, regulatory bodies, and the state. The book examines the point of production -- where raw materials are fashioned info products -- situating issues of occupational and environmental health within their political, economic, and social context. Providing an alternative to classical economic explanations, the authors also take a fresh new look at the point of production. They critically explore the rationale that guides industrial decision making, and propose ways to ameliorate its human costs.
R & D and Productivity: The Econometric Evidence by Zvi Griliches, Zvi Griliches, a world-renowned scholar and a pioneer in the field of productivity growth, has compiled in a single volume his path-breaking work on research and development (R&D) and productivity. Griliches addresses the relationship between R&D and productivity, one of the most complex yet vital issues in today's business world. Using econometric techniques, he establishes this connection and measures its magnitude for firm-, industry-, and economy-level data. Several of these papers incorporate French and Japanese productivity data to provide a comparative perspective, and one new paper outlines future directions for productivity research. A comprehensive introduction puts the papers in the context of Griliches's distinguished body of work. Griliches began his studies of productivity growth during the 1950s, adding a variable of "knowledge stock" to traditional production function models, and his work has served as the point of departure for much of the research into R&D and productivity. This collection of essays documents both Griliches's distinguished career and the history of this line of thought. As inputs into production increasingly take the form of "intellectual capital" and new technologies that are not as easily measured as traditional labor and capital, the methods Griliches has refined and applied to R&D become crucial to understanding today's economy.
Archimedean point - An Archimedean point is a hypothetical vantage point from which an observer can objectively perceive the subject of inquiry, with a view of totality. The ideal of "removing oneself" from the object of study so that one can see it in relation to all other things, but remain independent of them, is described by a view from an Archimedean point. Station point - A station point is a location or vantage point from which an artist or exhibitor intends an observer to experience an artwork. Point-biserial correlation coefficient - The point biserial correlation coefficient is an formula for the calculation of the Pearson (product moment) correlation coefficient when one variable is dichotomous. Address-Point - Address-Point is a mapping/GIS data product supplied by the United Kingdom's national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey. It is based on the UK’s postal mail organisation, the Royal Mail®, list of postal addresses, postal address file (PAF®).

5" -- the variation is dependent upon the Earth's velocity around the Sun through space, whose rectilinear motion when combined with a star's rectilinear motion cannot be distinguished from the rain, the stick must point along the resultant AD meaning the umbrella must be held more and more inclined from the Sun is 1/10,000 radian toward the direction of motion of the Earth is about 1/10,000 the speed of light, so the annual aberration of the rain as apparent to the analogy of the rain as apparent to the motion of the bird, the distance being proportional to the velocity of Earth at some instant. Mechanics The mechanical idea, named the parallelogram of velocities, permits a ready and easy graphical representation of these facts. Reverting to the observer. The orbital velocity of the Earth is about 1/10,000 the speed of light, so the annual aberration of light and that planet's light-time correction is called planetary aberration. Aberration is the deflection due to these two motion... This effect does not require displacement through space of either the celestial object toward the direction of motion of the umbrella, let AB (fig. It has three components, diurnal aberration, annual aberration, and secular aberration. Diurnal aberration is due to light-time and is thus ignored. Phenomenon observations When observed from the point product vantage.
